PCE for PSP v0.83D6 Released; PC Engine or TurboGrafx-16 Emulator Updated

v0.83D6 Update: minor fixes and interface changes.

Like a Bishop from B3 to D5 — PCE for PSP v0.83… It’s the PC Engine (or TurboGrafx-16) emulator by an anonymous Japanese coder. It’s so cool, even Sony’s doing it.

p.s. you’ll want to mute the audio in this video, PCE for PSP, at least v0.83B3, doesn’t sound too great; D5 may differ. I’ve yet to try.

PCE for PSP v0.83D5:

  • added advanced video settings for After Burner 2.

…And likely plenty of other optimizations, bug fixes, or whatever since our last PCE for PSP coverage.

Prometheus v0.5 Released

greg | July 1, 2010

I’m just about to head out, but real quick before I go, I thought you’d be pleased to know Liquidzigong’s Prometheus — the module that enables 6.20-required games on CFW 5.XX — is indeed at version 0.5. Here’s what new:

  • Repair may be in conflict with CFW 5.XX Prometheus problems
  • Optimize application performance and size
  • Add KHBBS_ENCRYPTED bulk CD Prometheus module, if you do not want to replace BBS1/2/3.DAT, you can use / KHBBS_ENCRYPTED / EBOOT.BIN and / KHBBS_ENCRYPTED / prometheus.prx. But the cost will be read the disk slows down.

Don’t get it twisted though… This isn’t the simple CFW add-on; you gotta run with this: dump, decrypt, patch, and rebuild. All that fun stuff! If you’re looking for a simple solution, click here (PSP-1000/2000) or here (PSP-2000v3/3000). But like the change log says, this version may correct some problems with the CFW add-on.

“Hello World” on PSP Firmware 6.30

greg |

This is legit… But like Wololo says at the source, it’s useless for most people. It’s an in-game exploit that’s available on PSN, so should that name be made public, it’ll be pulled and patched with the quickness. So really, it’s simple: don’t upgrade to 6.30 if you’re currently at 6.20. But you knew that. Props to mamosuke for this exploit.

Happy Canada Day!

Update: And here comes another one; I’m not sure if this is legit or not, but jeerum says he’ll release it “if something good is coming.” Well then, I gotta ask, what’s good?
