PSP Phone? Sony Ericsson – Android 3.0 – PSPgo-like Smartphone

Say whaaat? Engadget said it via their “trusted source” — Sony Ericsson to introduce Android 3.0 gaming platform and PSPgo-like smartphone. No rumours, straight fact. It won’t look exactly like this, maybe not at all, but here’s the idea (Engadget’s mockup):

PSP Phone Mockup

It’ll be sexy no doubt — the device is mostly black with silver highlights and the gamepad area is white/silver — and to accompany that, get this: it’s a landscape slider, but instead of a sliding QWERTY keyboard you get [PlayStation] game controls — X, O, ▲, ◻, shoulder triggers, d-pad and in lieu of an analog stick it has a “long touch pad;” it has a large display, between 3.7″ and 4.1″ with WVGA or better resolution; a 5 megapixel camera, which may not be final; and it’s likely they’ll squeeze a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU in there.

As far as software goes, the dopest gaming phone ever will run Gingerbread, aka Android 3.0. The Android Market is where you’ll download games. These games may be available to other Android phones if their spec and controls meet the requirements. With respect to graphics, games’ll look PSX and PSP like. Apparently these titles are being demoed somewhere, to someone: God of War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and LittleBigPlanet.

The gaming platform and hardware may be introduced come October.

I want one.
